The upcoming show at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina is August Wilson’s Fences.
Set in Pittsburgh in the 1950s, Fences depicts the life of Troy Maxson, a former Negro League baseball star who is now a sanitation worker. Troy once dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player but was deemed too old when the major leagues began admitting black athletes.
This powerful play explores the walls we build around ourselves and our loved ones, while also illuminating one family’s journey during this pivotal time in our country.
