Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lunch and Learn
September 18, 2024
Thanks to you, our first Lunch and Learn of the fiscal year was a huge success, supported by nearly 90 members and guests.
David Nelems, CEO of the Don Ryan Center for Innovation introduced the different types of artificial intelligence in our world today, and how they are being used.
He spent the
majority of his presentation on ChatGPT, demonstrated how to use it, and
reminded everyone throughout his presentation: (1) AI today is as bad as it will
ever be, and, (2) think of it as an assistant, not the authority. ChatGPT will
make mistakes, yet offers many conveniences.
A special thanks to Chef Andy, Linda Tapetto, and the entire Hampton Lake team for making this a memorable event.

Haunted Happenings of Bluffton on the "Scream Porch" On October 29th, almost 90 attendees gathered to sip on cider and listen to Michael on the "SCREAM" porch—aptly named when it transforms into a Halloween haven of ghostly decorations. As the historian tells it, Bluffton is home to numerous lingering spirits, and his stories hint at the uncanny mysteries of those who never truly left. |
November General Meeting 2024 The HLWG second General Meeting took place on Tuesday, November 19th, with a Thanksgiving-themed agenda to inspire and prepare members for the holiday season. As members arrived, they were greeted by a beautifully crafted Thanksgiving tablescape created by Marie Camenares. Her design showcased creative and festive ideas for setting a holiday table, sparking inspiration for attendees to elevate their own celebrations. John Sudol followed with an important and timely presentation on fire safety, emphasizing precautions to take during the holidays. From the risks of unattended candles to the dangers of deep-frying a turkey, John provided practical advice to ensure homes are safe and loved ones protected during this busy season. The meeting concluded with a lively hack-a-thon led by Molly Breazeale. This interactive session encouraged members to brainstorm and share creative ways to make holiday entertaining less stressful, offering fresh ideas and solutions for a smoother and more enjoyable holiday experience. The combination of inspiration, safety awareness, and problem-solving made this meeting a perfect kickoff to the holiday season! |
