Social Events Director

Hey there!

I'm Lee Ann Baran, your Social Events Director for HLWG, and I'm here to make sure we have a blast all year long!

My mission? To plan an awesome mix of events that our members will be excited about — from outdoor gatherings and creative workshops to themed parties that are full of energy and fun. Whatever the event, it’s all about bringing us together and having a great time!

Got a cool idea for an event? I’d love to hear it! Let’s make this year’s social calendar the most fun and vibrant one yet.

Can’t wait to see you at the next event!

Cheers,
Lee Ann Baran
Social Events Director, HLWG

Upcoming Events

General Meeting - November 19th

The next General Meeting will be held on Tuesday November 19th from 6:30-8:30PM in the Barn. The theme will be Thanksgiving related, we're planning on having John Sudol talk about Fire Safety (think candles, and deep frying a turkey). As the holiday season approaches, it's important to ensure our homes are safe and our loved ones are protected. Join us for an informative presentation designed to provide valuable tips on preventing fires, handling emergencies, and keeping your home and family safe during this festive time of year.

On his 50th birthday, Mr. Sudol decided to join the local volunteer fire department, where he completed four months of training and began responding to fire calls. Soon thereafter, he was elected to the Board of Fire Commissioners and served as Chairman for three years. He is most proud of responding to over 1,200 fire calls in a seven-year period and being nominated by his peers for the honor of “Fireman of the Year.”

He plans to speak about what he learned from over 1,200 fire calls while serving in a NJ volunteer fire department.  The goal is to help you understand more about fire prevention and home safety.  Topics to be discussed include:

  1. Why are fires today drastically different from 25 years ago?
  2. What are the relevant threats in the Lowcountry (besides home fires), and how can we mitigate them?
  3. What are some specific tips for the holiday season regarding home safety?

Fire and Ice - December 5th

  • Illuminated indoor and outdoor spaces for a magical evening

Dress Code: Cocktail attire

Stay tuned for more details!

Past Events

General Meeting August 29th

Our first General Meeting of the fiscal year, and it was a fantastic event themed around the Olympic Games. While we didn’t ask anyone to stick the landing on a balance beam, we did throw in some friendly competition to keep things interesting.

Business Meeting Highlights
Before diving into the games, we attended to some important business matters. Amy, along with two of the Charitable Giving Committee Chairs (Ann Martin and Lianne Goldberg-vanBergen), spearheaded a donation drive for Pockets Full of Sunshine. The generosity of HLWG members and the HL community never ceases to amaze. You all deserve gold medals in kindness and generosity. Meanwhile, Lori, Janice, Lee Ann, and Molly, kept us in the loop about Membership status, Interest Group buzz, and the upcoming events. Although Stacey couldn't make the meeting, she left all the info to present the financial report. We're in good shape financially.
We also got a quick update on our communication efforts

Soiree en Blanc - October 10th

Nearly 100 women, all dressed in stunning white, gathered for an unforgettable evening at the Soiree en Blanc. The Barn was transformed into a chic and elegant venue, with the space beautifully adorned with soft balloons, glowing electric candles, and crisp linen tablecloths, creating a warm and sophisticated ambiance. Guests indulged in a delectable spread catered by Downtown Catering, featuring a range of gourmet dishes that perfectly complemented the evening. The energy remained high throughout the night, with the DJ delivering an exceptional set that kept everyone dancing until the very end. It was truly an evening to remember, filled with elegance, fun, and celebration.
